The Medical Affairs Company is initiating a global Field Medical team to support its client’s mission to redefine neuroscience drug development by bringing forward the next generation of novel therapies that offer improved treatment outcomes and quality of life for patients living with brain diseases. The MSL team will be hired to represent company’s global clinical support and educational efforts in helping to drive awareness and enrollment of its pivotal clinical trial program.

Serving as a value-added resource and extension of Company’s Medical Affairs organization, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will provide both global clinical operations and Medical Affairs teams with field clinical support, initially focusing their efforts and activities to the clinical trial program’s PIs and site staff, as well as referring psychiatrists, clinicians, and trial ancillary stakeholders. The MSL will serve as a liaison between Company, the clinical study sites, investigators, and the clinical research organization (CRO) staff. The MSL will be responsible for conducting outreach and supporting the clinical investigators and their site staff’s needs, developing relationships, supporting education and enrollment initiatives, and representing Company’s interests.

The MSL will additionally work to build relationships and engage in scientific exchange with the neuroscience medical community, compliantly engage in peer-to-peer discussions with them on Company’s commitment to MDD and other brain diseases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete internal education/training on all assigned SOPs, study protocols, and relevant assets. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and training relevant to the position.
• Identify and conduct outreach to clinical investigators, CSLs, site staff and referring physicians to develop relationships, support enrollment initiatives and represent Company’s interests.
• Prepare for and present study information via formal presentations to investigators, site staff and referring physicians to generate interest for participation in company sponsored studies or related activities and/or to confirm understanding of a specific protocol.
• Engage site staff and investigators in discussion to understand and report challenges in subject enrollment and retention and offer potential solutions.
• Upon request, educate clinical trial sites and referring physicians about disease state or study design.
• Interact and build positive relationships with key stakeholders on the Medical Affairs and Research and Development teams as well as the clinical trial sites’ assigned study team members including field monitors and CRAs.
• Communicate any adverse event information, reports of concern or product complaints in accordance with Company’s policies.
• As requested, attend local, regional, and national medical conferences, to obtain new medical insights, stay informed of clinical trends and support and maintain relationships with key investigators.
• Communicate investigator/study coordinator inquiries requiring follow-up to designated contacts within Company and/or the Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations team.

As Company’s Field Position evolves, additional responsibilities may include:

• Engagement with medical community Thought Leaders, and clinicians.
• Engagement of Centers of Excellence and Research (CoER)
• Clinical trial outcomes sharing and insight gathering.
• Medical meeting insight gathering, compilation, and reporting.
• Medical literature surveillance and summaries to be shared across the company (Literature Alerts).
• Journal Club presentations and management/scheduling.
• Investigator sponsored research discussions.
• Medical Affairs projects as appropriate

Qualifications:

• Doctorate-level degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D. or D.O.) and 2+ years Medical Affairs experience.
• Extensive scientific and/or clinical experience in neuroscience, mood disorders strongly preferred.
• Prior pharmaceutical industry experience as a MSL or Clinical Trial Liaison giving the candidates a solid understanding of scientific exchange in the context of a compliance landscape (new product launch experience) preferred.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work independently yet engage in collaboratively within Field team to complete tasks in a timely fashion.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are imperative; ability to anticipate and adapt to change; strong interpersonal skills commensurate with the need to work closely with partners, investigators, contractors, consultants, and team members across functions.
• Excellent transferrable presentation, communication, and project management skills across a variety of interaction mediums including in person, digital, email, phone, etc.
• Ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and medical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Established track record of effective and influential oral presentations to both large and small audiences within the healthcare profession.
• Ability to identify unmet medical, educational, and research needs at a local, regional, and national level in the medical community.
• Demonstrated success working in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and able to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to assess situations to prioritize the importance, urgency and risks, and present leadership with recommendations.
• Self-starter and team player with a strong results orientation.
• Willingness and ability to travel 50-70% including overnight stays.
• Ability to manage a geographically assigned territory from a home-based office.
• Ability to complete required training, documentation, expense reporting, and other administrative tasks.
• Computer skills including Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and programs such as Zoom are expected.
• Valid driver’s license
