Job description
The German Diabetes Center (DDZ) is the Leibniz Institute for Diabetes Research at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. The DDZ is an interdisciplinary research centre linking molecular and cell biological basic with clinical and epidemiological research approaches. The DDZ has the aim to develop new approaches for prevention, early detection and diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and to improve therapy and treatment of its complications.
The Institute for Clinical Diabetology (Director: Prof. Dr. Michael Roden), research group “Inflammation“ (Head: Prof. Dr. Christian Herder) is looking for anTasks include planning epidemiological analyses within different cohort studies, performing statistical analyses in projects related to environmental exposures and other biomarkers as determinants of the risk of diabetes and related complications, and communicating results in conferences and publications. The coordination of projects with internal and external partners is important as the position will be related to projects conducted with the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine (IUF).
Qualifikationsprofil:We are searching for a candidate with (1) a doctoral degree in epidemiology, (bio)statistics or a comparable discipline, (2) the ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner with physicians and life scientists, and (3) knowledge of epidemiological methodology and statistical analysis systems (e.g. SAS or R). In addition, excellent writing and communication skills in English are required. Experience in the analysis of data on environmental exposures as risk factors would be desirable.
