We are looking for an Optics Development Engineer (m/f/d) to join our headquarters in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany and to become part of our interdisciplinary Product Development team , that is building next generation lab automation utilizing leading edge technology.
Responsiblities
- Develop (compact) optical systems with focus on imaging of biological samples
- Design corresponding components, modules and derive specifications
- Design and execute feasibility studies by rapid prototyping (with 3D printers, cage systems)
- Plan and execute verification and validation of both optical and other system specs, if possible, in an automated way (Python, Matlab)
- Further develop and improve of existing optical systems
- Accompany serial transfer for example by designing acceptance criteria
- Work with dedicated, interdisciplinary project teams across disciplines on different development projects
Qualifications
- Successfully completed studies with technical or scientific focus (technical optics, physics, mechatronics, microelectronics, precision engineering, or similar)
- Solid background in optics
- Excellent understanding of the interaction of complex components of optics, mechanics, electronics and systems engineering as well as practical experience in handling such systems
- Ability to prototype and test your own (optical) designs
- Experience with scripting languages for automized tests (Matlab, Python)
- Ideally 2+ years of industrial experience
- You are hands-on and willing to cross discipline boundaries to solve a problem
- Experience with lab devices and CAD software is a plus
- Highly motivated, independent and well organized work style
