Job description
your responsibility
- Independent optical alignment and characterisation of lasers including verification and documentation.
- Error analysis and improvement during the development process
- Development of medical lasers according to defined requirements
- Testing of the medical device with regard to performance
- Evaluation and testing of cooling technologies for use in laser products
- Reporting on the progress of the development results
- Intensive cooperation within the development with other departments both inside and outside the company
- Supporting external research projects according to the defined goals
- Monitoring trends in optical technologies
- Review and analysis of patents and scientific literature
- Pursuing proposals for new product ideas and functions
- Assisting with production troubleshooting and providing technical support as needed for problems with laser components and equip-ment
your profile
- Successful studies in physics or engineering or similar with focus on design of optomechanical and electrical components
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in R&D of laser components (optical, electronic, mechanical)
- Sound and routine knowledge and technical understanding of laser technology, optics and optomechanical design, knowledge of solid-state laser design (flashlamps and diodes pumped) and fibre lasers
- Well versed in the design of medical devices and analogue electronic circuits
- Very good laboratory skills (problem-solving and hands-on mentality, ability to work independently, quality-oriented and conscientious work style)
- High degree of team-oriented work, creativity and communication skills as well as self-initiative
- Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear manner
- Ability to assess and evaluate technical contexts
- Fluency in English required
- Solid knowledge of healthcare standards (FDA, IEC60601, EN62304)
- Experience with embedded software development (e.g. docklight, labview, python) and CAD programs (e.g. ProEngineer) would be desirable
