The position at a glance
As an internal auditor contributes to Inspection Generale North America Hub (IGNA) global objectives. IGNA is part of BNP Paribas global Internal Audit group (Inspection Générale or IG) which is staffed with highly qualified individuals who perform high quality risk-based reviews to provide reasonable assurance to Audit Committee and Senior Management on the adequacy of the Governance, Risk Management and Control framework and recommend- corresponding improvements
In detail
- Evaluate business/function organization, through a systematic and methodical approach, their governance, risk management and internal controls adequacy and effectiveness as they relate to the FinOps Audit Team scope, i.e. Global Banking, Asset Management, Securities Services, Finance, Legal, Human Ressources, Communication and other operations.
- Follow Internal Auditor Association professional standards and US and Canada Regulatory requirements
- Assist the Head of Assignment to plan each audit prior to the commencement of fieldwork (includes meeting with Head of the Business/Function and other key staff, discussing changes/events that have material impact on the activity, acquiring knowledge of the activity, revising/enhancing the audit work program, and defining the scope on a risked based approach)
- Perform fieldwork (reviews of key processes, related risk, expected controls, actual control, identify gaps and conclude). Prepare supporting work papers with particular focus on documentation and analysis to support conclusion and if applicable findings and recommendations.
- Prepare findings and relevant recommendations and present them to auditees, Senior Management and Management of the area audited for validation and acceptance.
- Contribute to the preparation of key deliverable of the assignment such as the work program memo, the planning and evaluation and wrap-up meeting presentations and the audit report.
- Validate the closure of IG recommendation to ensure that the appropriate corrective actions were taken by reviewing and validating supporting evidence
- Participate in the validation of regulatory recommendation with thorough analysis and documentation to demonstrate to the regulators that Management corrective actions plan addresses the weaknesses identified in terms of design, operating effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Prepare Risk Assessment for Audit Unis after each assignment or at least annually by applying Inspection general North America guidance.
- Conduct Continuous Risk Monitoring meeting with Bank senior Management on a quarterly basis and prepare a synthesis to outline main changes in the organization or the business, changes in the risk profile and impact on Risk Assessment or audit plan.
- Investigate significant incidents.
- Participate to specific project to enhance Inspection Generale methodology, practices, tools, etc.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 4 years working in financial institutions paired with 5 years of experience as an external or internal auditor.
- MBA or CPA a plus
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or CFA would be an asset
- Excellent knowledge of written and verbal English and French
Knowledge:
- Strong background in audit standards, practices, and techniques
- Strong abilities to analyze and synthesize for each audit key deliverables
- Good knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS and US GAAP), more specifically on the assessment of provisions
- Good knowledge of banking products in Global Banking, Securities Services and Asset Management.Excellent
- Excellent knowledge of key US and Canada regulations impacting area in scope.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), interpersonal skills, strong facilitation, and interviewing skills.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to maintain effective relations between auditors and auditees, and interact effectively with different stakeholders.
- Strong risk and control awareness, and knowledge of risk assessment methodology
- Strong expertise utilizing advanced functions in Spreadsheet (i.e., Excel), and data analytics.
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong ability to work in a team: liaise with other bank departments and adapt to new situation and approaches.
- Ability to maintain his or her skills and expertise through continuing training on the important changes in the profession and the banking industry.
- Excellent ethical behavior.
