Job description
Job Summary: The Continuous Improvement Engineer analyzes, maintains, and improves manufacturing performance. They are responsible for deploying new processes and product lines and sustaining and improving existing processes. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will establish training programs to support Lufkin’s workforce flexibility and provide professional development opportunities for the manufacturing workforce. To ensure success, they must have strong communication skills, ability to work as an individual contributor as well as leading projects with cross functional teams.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: - Sustain and improve on safety, environmental, and quality policies, processes, and procedures
- Review and update production routings; update MFG drawings as necessary, maintain and create existing/new work instructions, SOP, reference guides
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and developing effective automated and non-automated systems
- Design jigs and fixtures to support and improve the production processes
- Drive actions to resolve issues and delays in production
- Help organizing and managing manufacturing workflows and resources
- Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality and productivity
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology
- Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
- Communicate and exemplify the company’s philosophy, vision, and expectations to build a culture of excellence across the organization
- Act as a change agent to all departments and levels of leadership to challenge processes, propose ideas, and drive change
- Execute and deliver on time CER (Capital Expenditure Request) projects/programs based on annual operating plan
- Lead manufacturing teams for effective problem solving using the appropriate six sigma tools such as 4C, A3, DMAIC etc.
Previous Experience and Competencies: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or other relevant fields; and at least 3 years of work experience (experience in lieu of education may be considered)
- Previous manufacturing experience with Oil and Gas industry preferred
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, ability to create drawings
- Advanced level experience of ERP systems (JD Edwards Preferred)
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI.
- Must be comfortable going on the manufacturing floor in a safety sensitive operation
Must reside or relocate to Red Deer area (Remote or hybrid work not allowed for this position)
