Job description
The Driver provides pick-up and delivery services to donors, clients & customers by exercising safe and careful driving and material handling procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the safe and careful handling of all deliveries, donations, kettle & other funds while protecting property, including donations & vehicles
- Takes responsibility for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of vehicle, & records of such. Washing and cleaning of vehicle.
- Provides customers and donors with courteous and diplomatic service
- Maintains knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts
- Performs circle checks of trucks and maintains truck logs
- Loads and unloads goods at the warehouse, destinations, and other storage facilities.
- Data entry of incoming and out going loads.
- Cleans bins, garbage, general cleaning of shipping area
- Unloading of truck can be somewhat labour intensive.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Driving duties to pick up and deliver food and material donations, as needed
- May assist in processing raw materials by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, loading the donations; protects the integrity of the donations
- May assist with selecting donations for store distribution, meeting established standards of quality and distinguishing between discarded and good quality merchandise according to company standards
- May assist with meeting assigned daily targets; counts, weighs and records incoming and outgoing donations
- Complies with all safety procedures and in/outdoor tidy maintaineance guidelines
- May operate warehouse equipment such as a power jack
- Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- High school diploma
- A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License supported by a clean Driver’s Abstract
Experience:
- Up to 12 months of prior related experience, including experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guidelines are an asset
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Experience in sorting food and goods
- Punctuality, reliability, trustworthiness
- Required to lift and/move more than 40 pounds
- May operate warehouse equipment such as power jack
- Focused and able to work under pressure
- Able to work independently
- Able to comply to with all applicable traffic laws
HOURS:
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
