Finance Assistant
Early Learning and Child Care

Position Summary
The Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Finance Assistant reports to the ELCC Liaison under Director of Finance. The ELCC Finance Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of functions by performing duties in a timely, effective, and efficient manner which includes working in collaboration with the ELCC Liaison to provide comprehensive support in the review and submission of financial documents, reports, and ELCC agreements.
Key Responsibilities
•
Provides information on ELCC funding, reporting and data collection.
•
Assist with the development of the reporting process to meet funding program reporting requirements.
•
Ensures First Nations have completed the contribution agreement requirements for accessing the ELCC funds.
•
Organize ELCC reporting templates to track funding deliverables based on dates and milestones.
•
Maintains a database to track status of contribution agreements, and reports.
•
Ensures ongoing communication and information sharing is done in a timely manner.
•
Reports on status of ELCC contribution agreements and reporting.
•
Provides updates as required to various meetings, conferences, and forums.
•
Sets priorities and organizes workload effectively and efficiently.
•
Manages an independent work environment.
•
Adhere to the companies’ policies and procedures.
•
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
•
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
•
Graduate from a recognized Accounting/Finance Management Program or have equivalent working experience.
•
Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and Sage Accpac.
•
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to work in a First Nations environment.
•
Demonstrated experience in problem solving, establishment of priorities, dealing with various governance bodies, organizations, and communities.
•
Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive matters.
•
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
•
Ability to work independently and cooperatively in an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
•
Must be able to work flexible hours and be able to travel upon request.
•
Fluency in a First Nations language is considered an asset.
•
Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
