GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Geotechnical Technician/Technologist to join our Team. We currently have an opening for Geotechnical Technician or Technologist to support ongoing work in Fredericton, NB. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the daily operation including managing geotechnical projects, providing survey and field inspection services, and contributing to the growth and success of our firm.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Educational & Experience that make you a Preferred Candidate:
- 2+ years of experience as a Geotechnical Technician or Technologist
- College Level Diploma or equivalent work experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with materials testing and inspection is considered an asset.
- Experience working with computer assisted drafting (CAD), Civil 3D and surveying is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) is considered an asset.
- Experience working in civil construction is considered an asset.
- Experience with laboratory testing of soil, aggregates, Portland cement, asphalt and concrete is considered an asset.
- Experience completing field density testing using nuclear density gauges.
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience dealing with contractors and municipal design consultants would be beneficial.
- Proven experience in providing survey and field inspection services.
Main Duties:
- Conduct geotechnical investigations including borehole drilling and test pit exploration.
- Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
- Various office, laboratory, and field tasks related to materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.
- Be physically capable of performing manual labour duties as required.
- Drafting of contract drawings using CAD, Civil 3D or ArcGIS.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate project activities and deliverables.
- Conduct construction surveys to support engineering projects.
- Communicate project updates, milestones, and potential issues to clients in a clear and professional manner.

- Full-time position.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for work related travel.
