Description

The Decontamination Labourer plays a vital role in a company specialized in decontamination and demolition works for building and/or civil engineering projects. Responsible for executing tasks related to decontamination on construction sites, they contribute to ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations.

This position offers an opportunity to learn and develop skills in the field of decontamination and to contribute to important projects for public and environmental safety.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing the site before commencing decontamination works. This may include installing safety equipment, setting up containment areas, and preparing necessary tools.
Collaborate with decontamination technicians to implement established decontamination procedures. This involves following instructions precisely and contributing to the completion of assigned tasks.
Handle contaminated materials safely and in compliance with relevant regulations. This may include moving debris, loading and unloading materials, and managing waste according to established procedures.
Ensure cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, and work areas after each intervention. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment contributes to safety and operational efficiency.
Strictly adhere to established safety protocols to minimize risks of exposure to contaminants and accidents on the site. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety guidelines.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to report incidents, concerns, or progress on the site. Clear and precise communication is essential for coordination and safety.

Requirements

Certification or training in occupational health and safety, particularly in handling hazardous materials and risk prevention, is an asset.
Experience in similar decontamination or construction works is an asset.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy loads and working in a standing position for long periods.
Good understanding of decontamination standards and safety regulations on construction sites, an asset.
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow supervisors' instructions while maintaining a positive attitude.
Willingness to work on different sites and adhere to variable schedules as per company requirements.
