Job description
Techmation Electric & Controls is looking for an experienced Operations Technician with 5 plus years to join our team. Individuals must be knowledgeable about current OH&S legislation, and conversant with the industry standards and practices of today’s safety-focused Oil & Gas sector. Must be located close to the Dawson Creek area, as this is a local run with no camp available. Shift schedule is an 8 on 6 off.
Reporting to the Lead Operator, the Operations Technician is responsible for providing general asset support for both day-to-day and non-routine operational/maintenance activities while ensuring that these activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner. Position may provide oversight to other facets of asset where required.
Responsibilities:
- Participation in a safe, effective and efficient field operations group that is team based, focusing on continuous improvement to maximize business goals
- Demonstrate and provide effective leadership for safety and environmental programs at a field level, supporting an overall proactive and positive safety culture
- Provide detailed oversight to assigned tasks to ensure all activities are performed in a safe and effective manner
- Actively engage and communicate with co-workers to ensure organizational and asset objectives/requirements are met
- Act as primary competency assessor for operations staff in regards to Standard Operating Procedures and participate in development of procedures when required
- Oversee and manage appropriate components of various compliance programs based on direction from Lead Operator and Asst. Superintendent
- Act as primary operations representative on project handovers from other departments (Completions, Facilities, etc.)
- Assist in regular, day-to-day operating and maintenance tasks when required
- Ensure utilization of enterprise applications and resources to maximize efficiency and execute effective time management (Remote Operations Center, SAP, Integrated Operations Platform, etc.)
- Provide input to new facility design to maximize operational effectiveness (safety, efficiency and operability) and apply past learnings to future asset needs
- Support asset performance monitoring and optimization. Provide input when required in development and implementation of projects and programs to streamline operations.
- Openly support changes to, or the development of, policies, workflow protocols, procedures or programs applicable to the asset
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years sour gas/oil gathering & processing experience.
- Prior experience with artificial lift systems, primarily plunger lifts.
- Current Standard First Aid Level 1, Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive a requirement
- Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work within a team environment. This also includes computer skills (Outlook, Work, Excel)
- Must be self motivated with the ability to work alone and complete routine tasks
- Preference will be given to applicants with Ltd company and truck
