Summary of Position: The Senior Architect will actively contribute to the design, delivery and coordination of all phases of the project from pre-design to site administration. This will include responsibility for architectural drawings, design integration/strategies and planning requirements. Collaboration is a key component of this role and will involve consultant coordination, client relations and strong project communication. You will work on a variety of projects including high-rise multifamily, mass timber buildings, and mixed-use projects.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead the project team to coordinate the timely completion of creative and/or technical and/or administrative tasks throughout the building design process from pre-design phase, programming, conceptual design, design development, contract documentation, tender phase and site administration to project completion.
- Contribute to establishing, maintaining and adhering to project budget and schedule.
- Take an active role in the creation of design concepts or client relations through the design process and consultant coordination through project development or contract documents and/or site administration under the supervision of the Partner in Charge.
- Development of contract drawing and specification procedures and completion of design/contract documents, development bylaw, and building code standards.
- Develop the practice of basic office administration procedures including the creation of relevant project documentation: minutes of meetings, transmittal of project material, applications to authorities etc. and filing systems by all project staff to organize of all related project information and correspondence.
- Work with the BIM Manager on implementation and training of BIM practices
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of post graduate experience with high-rise multifamily or high-rise mixed-use projects
- Strong proficiency in Revit and experience with BIM
- A degree or a diploma in Architecture from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Registered with the AIBC, or eligible to be registered in the province of British Columbia
- Ability to oversee project development, manage project teams and integrate BIM methodology into project workflow
- Knowledge of specifications, BCBC, and the VBBL
- Thorough understanding of design and construction document production with a demonstrated ability to develop details that are technically proficient and that support the architectural expression of projects
- High standards towards quality and ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
- Strong presentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience coordinating consultants, clients and internal teams
