Job description

This is a contract position for a Business Intelligence Specialist for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Four Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 2 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
supports Client’s wide-ranging business information requirements, implementing and supporting business intelligence software solutions
Conduct research and prototyping of new business intelligence and analytics capabilities to support OPS business requirements
Work with the Client, Designer(s) & Developer(s) assigned to refine/confirm Business Requirements
Develops and supports customized query applications which analyze key business data
Develops and supports guided analysis and drill-down functionality, routine scheduling and notification of report generation, and effective implementation of “opportunity” and “key-trend” alerts.

Provides Clients with approach options and tools for managing business-related data in a manner that assists in quantitative analysis of progress and the relationship between operational actions and their effect on business objectives.
Report and Dashboard Development:
Developing interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards
Customizing and optimizing reports for user-friendliness, and accessibility/AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA compliance
Data Extraction and Transformation:
Extracting data from various sources (e.g., databases, APIs) and transforming it for use in the solution
Implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to prepare and clean data.
Data Visualization:
Selecting appropriate visualization techniques to effectively communicate data insights.
Creating meaningful charts, graphs, and other data visualizations.
DAX and Power Query:
Writing and optimizing DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas to perform complex calculations.
Utilizing Power Query for data transformation and manipulation.
Performance Optimization:
Tuning queries and data models for improved speed and responsiveness.
Security and Access Control:
Implementing data security measures to ensure appropriate access to sensitive information.
Working with our team to manage user roles and permissions using corporate best practices.
Data Integration:
Creating seamless data flows and connections between systems.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Collaborating with an agile project team of product owner, project manager, business analysts, data developers, user experience (UX) designers and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide insights.
Documenting data sources, data models, and report development following corporate best practices and processes
Troubleshooting and Support:
Monitoring and maintaining solutions, resolving technical issues and providing user support.
Knowledge Transfer:
Must have previous work experience in conducting Knowledge Transfer and training sessions, ensuring the resources will receive the required knowledge to support the system.
The resource must develop learning activities using review-watch-do methodology & demonstrate the ability to prepare and present.
Development of documentation and materials as part of a review and knowledge transfer to other members

Qualifications
Experience in leading or conducting time and motion studies
Experience interpreting your findings and providing recommendations to the team and executives
Able to analyze ways an organization might adopt new regulations around data gathering, metrics, KPI tracking and data analysis procedures
