Description

The Controller plays a crucial role within a construction company operating in the building and/or civil engineering sectors. They are responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the company, ensuring accuracy in accounting data, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Supervise, lead, and control the company's accounting cycle, including the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Ensure coordination, monitoring, and optimization of project accounting cycles while meeting established deadlines.
Analyze the company's financial performance and provide periodic reports to management on trends, variances, and forecasts.
Monitor cash flows and working capital requirements, ensuring the company has the necessary liquidity for its operations.
Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data.
Prepare end-of-month and year-end accounting files.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations in collaboration with legal and tax advisors.
Act as a coordinator for members of the accounting department team.
Manage relationships with financial institutions, negotiate credit lines and financing, if applicable.
Coordinate periodic external audits and ensure implementation of recommendations.
Oversee the management, evolution, and improvement of the management system and its optimal use by users.

Requirements

Degree in accounting and CPA designation, finance, or related field. 
Experience in a similar position, preferably in the construction industry, is an asset.
Good knowledge of the construction sector and its financial specificities is advantageous.
Understanding of tax laws.
Excellent proficiency in accounting and financial management software.
Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.
