The opportunity:
The Program Manager, Market Transformation (MT) is responsible for the implementation of a new program which is designed using the Market Transformation delivery model. Market Transformation programs differ from E1's traditional "Resource Acquisition" (RA) programs, which focus on providing monetary incentives to end-users. Market Transformation instead focuses on activities that affect the entire market rather than individuals, e.g. training and marketing.
Primary requirements will include the coordination, planning, and execution of all market intervention activities. These activities are focused on supporting Efficiency Preferred Partners to grow heat pump water heater (HPWH) adoption in Nova Scotia, capacity-building, and education efforts for industry and consumers. The Program Manager will work with E1 partners, internal staff, and external stakeholders and consultants.
- Achieve program targets within a given budget for all program components.
- select the program's operational priorities and plan for long-term program success.
- oversee day-to-day program activities such as:
- Contract management with external consultants.
- maintaining and updating the program manual, logic model, evaluation plan, and associated documents;
- supporting the process and reviewing results of the program evaluation and implementing approved changes following evaluation.
- Regularly report program results, forecasted results, and status concerning targets for all program components.
- Fostering effective collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, utility partners, industry associations, and technology providers, to ensure a coordinated and successful program execution.
What Will Help You Succeed?
- University Degree or Diploma in a technical or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Project management experience, ideally with a focus on market transformation or sustainability initiatives.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
- Familiarity with energy efficiency, sustainability, and demand-side management concepts would be considered an asset.
- Excellent client service skills (internal partners and customers) including the ability to work collaboratively or independently.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and handle multiple tasks, while working in an environment with tight timelines and high-quality standards.
What to expect in your first several weeks on the job:
In the first month, expect to:
- Receive training from the R&D Engineering team on Market Transformation concepts.
- Receive training from the R&D Engineering team on EfficiencyOne Market Transformation framework.
- Receive training from the R&D Engineering team on Market Transformation theory-based evaluation.
- Receive training from the R&D Engineering team on the HPWH pilot, e.g. logic model, key performance indicators (KPIs), market progress indicators (MPIs)
In the first three months, expect to:
- Complete the "Processes" section of the HPWH MT program manual, including but not limited to:
- Establish a system for tracking market progress indicators (MPIs), e.g. sales of HPWH.
- Establish processes for identifying training needs, qualified trainers, and recipients of training.
- Establish processes for the development and execution of communications and marketing activities.
- Prepare the HPWH pilot for delivery, including but not limited to activities such as:
- Collect information and develop content for case studies and other marketing collateral.
- Consult with EPP members and other industry stakeholders on content development.
- Identify data sources to track MPIs.
- Identify ways to close data gaps, e.g. work with Information and Analytics to develop surveys to close data gaps.
- Identify opportunities to coordinate with other programs where there is overlap and alignment of program goals, e.g. increasing HPWH adoption in Instant savings, HEA, etc.
In the remainder of 2024:
- Deliver marketing intervention activities for the HPWH program, e.g. delivery of training, and marketing campaigns.
- Work with the 2026-2030 DSM Plan MT working group to develop future Market Transformation programs
