We’re looking for a handy person to join our team for the summer!
Camp Custodian
A person who is interested in impacting the lives of children by helping provide a safe, clean and well-maintained environment for our 4 week Summer Day Camp. This is a 35 hr/week Monday to Friday position lasting July 8 – August 16, 2024. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the camp’s Senior Director and will be responsible for general facility and equipment supply and maintenance.

What you’ll do:
Camp is a busy place and kids can be messy. You’ll be responsible with helping us to keep up with that by daily cleaning and general maintenance of the facility. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the Day Camp equipment is placed where it’s supposed to be each morning before camp starts and that it’s returned securely indoors at the end of the day. You’ll also:
- Be responsible for any routine cleaning of equipment and spaces that might be required by Public Health measures due to COVID-19 (if any).
- Clean and disinfect toilets and sinks in classroom and general bathrooms every day (we provide what you need to do this).
- Supervise and engage with the Kampers during recess periods outside. Supervise their reentry to the building afterwards (you chance to show how “fun” you are).
- Assist counsellors with wide-game planning and execution.
- Assist counsellors with camp décor planning and preparation.
- Do other stuff we might think up at the time.
What you’ll bring:
- Your faith helps. We’re a Christian camp and we want to model Jesus’ teachings and behaviours in everything we do. Remember He said that He was among us as “one who serves” himself. So you’re in very good company in this role.
- Your physical fitness. There’s some not-so-heavy lifting involved.
- Your flexibility and adaptability and an ability to multi-task. Pretty much anything can happen at camp!
- Your commitment. We need you to show up every day for the duration of the contract.
- Your sense of humour (we’re into fun around here! J)
