Job description


This is a seasonal position of 30 weeks involving maintenance, operations, training and supervising seasonal staff of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs specific to the Citys green spaces
- Maintain systematic, complete, and accurate records and supporting documents
- Ensure effective utilization and safety of personnel and equipment
- Ensure work orders and requests for service are completed
- Assist in preparing budget information, monitor expenditures and assist in developing a proper asset inventory and life cycle costing
- Possess the physical ability and knowledge to supervise, direct and perform a variety of fully skilled and manual tasks independently
- Coach, train, evaluate and record disciplinary action
- Ensure quality customer service to all guests, residents and clients
- Drive/operate/inspect and ensure proper maintenance of various vehicles and equipment
- Lead a safety-focused culture

Ideal candidate will have a minimum:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two (2) years experience in Parks maintenance including turf care, flowers, trees and landscaping
- Two (2) years supervisory experience
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn new procedures related to the maintenance of green spaces
- Familiarity with Windows based computer systems and ability to learn new software systems
- Ability to physically and mentally complete duties while exposed to environmental factors
- Ability to physically perform unassisted heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to operate equipment and vehicles required
- Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License and Drivers Abstract
- Additional certifications to obtain once hired
