Description The
Civil Engineering Estimator plays a central role within a construction company specialized in civil engineering and excavation projects. Responsible for assessing costs and preparing accurate estimates for these projects, this individual contributes to ensuring their financial and operational success.
Responsibilities •Carefully review engineering plans, technical specifications, and tender documents to understand the specific project requirements.
•Estimate costs associated with civil engineering and excavation projects accurately, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
•Analyze drawings and specifications to identify necessary works and evaluate required quantities.
•Obtain prices from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, labor, and services required for project execution.
•Utilize specialized software to prepare detailed estimates, integrating quantitative data with unit prices and overheads to establish a project's overall budget.
•Prepare comprehensive estimation proposals, explaining cost details, and addressing client and stakeholder inquiries.
•Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, project managers, and other team members to ensure estimates meet project requirements and budget objectives.
Requirements •Degree in estimation, engineering, construction, or any relevant combination of education and experience.
•Relevant experience in estimating civil engineering and excavation projects is an asset.
•In-depth knowledge of construction materials, construction methods, and associated costs.
•Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
•Proficiency in cost estimation software and computer tools.
•Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret engineering plans and technical specifications.
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with clients, suppliers, and project team members.
•Ability to work under pressure and meet strict construction project deadlines.
•Attention to detail and precision in estimation work to ensure the accuracy of projected costs.
•Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
