Your Impact:

Jacobs is currently seeking a PART TIME Environmental Field Technician to join our team in Canada. The successful candidate will be assigned to the project site in Sarnia, Ontario in Canada. This is an on-site position in Sarnia and cannot be performed remotely. The responsibilities will consist of a wide variety of field (primary) and office (secondary) tasks related to the evaluation and implementation of environmental investigations and remediation projects. Tasks include collection of surface water samples during weather events, operations & mechanical maintenance of remediation systems, monitoring activities, providing observations during fieldwork, occasional subcontractor oversight, and waste inspections/management.

*This is a part-time position with an average of 20 hours per week, though hours may vary significantly based on weekly tasks.*

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee or perform field work tasks under minimal to no supervision under a partially variable schedule such as remediation system maintenance, repairs, subcontractor oversight, inspections, and environmental media sampling.

• Lead and support safety operations at the site.

• May include routine set-up, assembly, installation, and/or minor troubleshooting or simple repairs of remediation equipment as directed.

• Act as onsite lead in maintaining compliance with permit conditions.

• Perform environmental contaminated sites assignments including compilation of field and analytical data.

• Learn Quality Management and Enterprise Management Systems and use the processes in the conduct of work.

• Complete rigorous and clear field documentation and participate in planning, organizing, and reporting related to field tasks.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Experience participating in field health and safety programs.

• Must have driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.

• High school diploma or Canadian equivalent. 

Requires schedule flexibility, including occasional weekend and night work.

• Ability to work and communicate within a team structure is critical; must have strong communication skills.

• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and challenging environment with a positive attitude and dedication.

• Experience planning and executing field work programs including pre-ordering equipment and materials required to complete the work.

• Experience working on active construction/remediation project sites and interacting with subcontractors preferred.

• Experience working with mechanical systems preferred. 

• Requires ability to learn new client- and Jacobs-specific data entry software and information management systems.

• Excellent computer skills including the use of excel and Microsoft suite of products.

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.

• Ability to bend, twist, crouch, kneel, walk on uneven surfaces.

• Ability to operate light landscaping equipment (weed whacker, backpack sprayer, shovel, rake).

• Ability to climb ladder/work from ladder.

• Ability to walk long distances on steep, uneven slopes.

• Must be willing/available to travel for occasional short -term assignments.
