HR Manager: Union Experience A MUST

Job description
A leading manufacturing organization committed to excellence and innovation, with a strong global presence, is seeking an Human Resources Manager to join their growing team.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the COO and SVP. ensuring a harmonious and productive work environment. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for overseeing HR functions, demonstrating expertise in union relations, and managing a small team.
Union Relations:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives.
- Navigate and resolve labor-related issues, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Participate in negotiations and discussions to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Understand that there are negotiations with a new collective agreement in the coming months
Recruitment:
- Lead the recruitment process, collaborating with hiring managers to identify staffing needs.
- Oversee the development and implementation of effective recruitment strategies.
- Conduct interviews, manage candidate evaluations, and make recommendations for hiring decisions.
Team Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of 2 HR professionals, providing guidance and support.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the HR department.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and training sessions for team members.
Strategic HR Planning:
- Work closely with the SVP of Manufacturing to align HR strategies with business objectives.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs to support organizational goals.
Employee Relations:
- Address employee concerns and grievances promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with management to maintain a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Compliance and Legal:
- Ensure compliance with local and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, implementing changes as necessary.
Collaboration with Director of HR (US):
- Share insights, best practices, and collaborate on global HR projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in HR management, with a focus on manufacturing, unionized environments, and recruitment.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, and union relations.
- Previous experience overseeing a team of HR professionals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM, HRCI) is a plus.
- Bilingualism an asset
