Status: 24 hours/week
(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00-3:00); .64 FTE, depending on the Individual Funding contract between Community Living BC, and the Comox Valley Child Development Association
End Date:
This position is an 18 month maternity leave coverage. End date is approximately September 29, 2025, or return of incumbent.

Job Summary:
Project Inclusion One on One Worker is required to work with a young adult to assist in the implementation of daily activities to achieve their goals in community living in the areas of recreation, learning, socializing, volunteering, and employment. This worker will support individuals and participate in activities such as swimming, going to the gym, and supporting the client with college classes. The successful applicant will also be responsible for supporting the personal care needs for participants in the program. In addition, the applicant will help the client towards independence and goal setting, and help the client build advocacy skills.

Qualifications:
The applicant must be able to problem solve and creatively respond to families’ needs for their young adult, and have excellent group facilitation, and communication skills. Qualification skills include: Degree in Child and Youth Care, certification in Human Service Worker Program, or appropriate training in Child and Youth Care and two years of recent relevant experience in working with young adults with diverse abilities, and experience working with an individual with a hearing impairment. Additional requirements are a Valid Driver’s License, Current Vehicle Insurance, Driver’s Abstract, First Aid training, and preferably have some knowledge of sign language (ASL), or Sign Exact.

• Verbal communication skills that are empathetic and articulate
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Willingness to participate in agency community engagement activities such as the annual Telethon fundraiser and community engagement
• A criminal record check will be required
