We are accepting applications for a casual Information Centre Assistant to join our Corporate Services team. The Information Centre Assistant provides efficient and effective front line customer service, clerical, and administration assistance to the general public and staff of the CVRD. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Records and Information, the primary responsibilities of this role include:

Greeting customers at the Information Centre, answering the main switchboard, directing inquiries and providing information;
Maintaining an awareness of all meetings, events, advertising etc. concerning the regional district in order to provide accurate information to the public;
Receiving and processing payments (including issuing dog licenses, transit passes and processing permits), entering payments into a financial system and issuing receipts;
Balancing and reconciling money received and preparing a bank deposit on a daily basis;
Receiving and distributing incoming mail, faxes and courier packages and processing outgoing mail and courier items;
Performing a variety of clerical support duties including updating manuals, electronic filing, ensuring bulletin board and brochure displays are in order and up-to-date, and ordering supplies;
Organizing and maintaining the board room, staff lunch room and other common space, keeping areas clean and in functional order;
Providing clerical support to other branches as needed.

Experienced in providing administrative support with over six months up to one year of directly related experience performing general administrative support duties, customer service, cash handling in a computerized setting, and interacting with the general public;
Educated in office administration including completion of a six month up to one-year office administration course from a recognized post-secondary institution following high school graduation;
Comfortable using office equipment such as folding and mail machines, copiers, fax machines and laminators;
Familiar with financial administration systems with the ability to process payment transactions, enter sales data into a financial system, prepare receipts, balance and reconcile payments received;
Knowledgeable in the practices and processes involved in local government office administration;
An advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on word processing and Excel. Strong utilization skills with Adobe Acrobat, electronic filing and SharePoint applications;

Available on both a scheduled and call-in basis to provide vacation and other relief coverage and assistance with various projects between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Note: as this position is casual/on-call there is no guarantee of hours.

A valid BC Class 5 driver’s license is required for this role. Successful candidates will be required to consent to a Canadian Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector search if applicable).
