Shop Sheet Metal Journeypersons / Apprentices - $23.88 - $40 per hour - Halifax

Are you an experienced Sheet Metal Worker who has lived in Canada for at least 5 years?
Do you enjoy fabrication and specialize in custom sheet metal products up to 3mm thick and equipment associated with Marine HVAC installation?
Are you comfortable with operating Plasma tables, Horizontal Bandsaws, Pinch plate rolls, and Hydraulic Shears and brakes?
Do you like the consistency of a Monday-to-Friday daytime shift with a company that offers a comprehensive benefits package?

Permanent position
Shift: Monday-to-Friday 7am - 3:30pm
Salary: $23.88 - $40hr (based on apprentice level)
Environment: non-unionized

Responsibilities
As a ticketed or apprentice shop sheet metal worker, a normal day would include:
- Read and understand shop and field sketches used in fabrication and erection, including those taken from original architectural and engineering drawings or sketches.
- Measure and mark sheet metal according to template
- Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
- Operate Plasma table, Horizontal Bandsaw, Pinch plate roll, Pittsburgh lock machine & Power flanger, Hydraulic Shear & brakes, TDF Former, etc.
- Spot Welds
- Read blueprints, drawings, and instructions that are to be followed
- Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification
- Use of power tools & hand tools.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
What do you need for this position?
- Journeyperson red seal with 5+ years of relevant experience in a sheet metal shop
- Apprentices who have completed a pre-apprenticeship course or equivalent experience
- Able to measure accurately (imperial and metric)
- Mechanically inclined
- Experience with part nesting
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and a Canadian Government Security clearance
