Treasury Board and Finance – Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) is responsible for the collection of revenue and the administration of Alberta’s tax, revenue and related benefit programs. The focus of our organization is to ensure a fair, efficient and effective provincial tax and revenue system. Business Solutions within TRA provides a diverse scope of services to the Branch and to Alberta Government Ministries, in the support of Collections and Recoveries activities. The Business Services teams within Business Solution perform activities such as management of contracts with private collection agencies; management of CRA’s Refund Set-Off program, and product planning and implementation of enhanced data and technology strategies for the branch.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Business Solutions, the Manager, Business Services is responsible for the management and direction for day-to-day delivery of contract management, systems management, data and technology solutions for the Branch. The Manager applies highly developed technical expertise and project management methodologies to support successful implementation of projects within the Branch.

As Manager, you will proactively engage with a broad and diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to ensure business requirements are considered, business impacts and risks are identified, and solutions proposed by service providers are appropriate, effective, cost efficient and consistent with corporate strategic directions. You will also work in close collaboration with subject matter experts withing the Branch and Division.

In this position you will provide project leadership to applications initiatives, providing the Director and executive members with reliable and evidence-based information and recommendations to support informed decisions relating to proposed projects.

Key responsibilities:
• Manage and maintain the Branch's executed contracts, Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's)
• Provide support for the implementation of key initiatives related to modernization of processes, improved utilization of data and stakeholder engagement while supporting the Branch's business teams with records management, training and change management efforts
• Implement data analytics to improve service delivery and develop strategic reporting to support Branch decision-making
• Maintain a comprehensive records management strategy and adopts a training approach for the Branch
• Provide leadership and direction to staff in active engagement as well as promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration and service excellence

Qualifications

A University degree in a related field (e.g. Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Business Analysis, Computer Sciences, Information Technology) supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience.

This position requires the following experience and technical competencies:
• Several years of management experience
• Leadership skills to foster innovation and guide teams through transformation and change
• Experience developing and leading projects to produce successful results
• Advanced facilitation and collaboration experience with diverse audiences
• Exceptional communication skills and application of strategies to work with different stakeholder groups
• Exceptional planning and coordination skills to guide clear and adaptive approaches to inform plans, project sand decisions
• Knowledge and experience in managing contracts and excellent understanding of government structure

Equivalency:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

This is a permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

This position will be located in Downtown Edmonton.
