Job Duties

Job Duties

1. Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the traditional areas of computer engineering, as well as program specialty areas based on current program needs. Experience in C/C++ programming, semiconductor devices, microcontrollers, mobile applications, cloud computing, embedded systems programming, PCB design, analog integrated circuits, computer hardware, and cybersecurity is required.
2. Customizing and adapting curriculum for content and delivery.
3. Ability to teach in other program areas is an asset.
4. Manage face-to-face, blended, and outline courses to ensure an optimal learning environment for students.
5. Be reflective of and responsive to accommodation of special learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.
6. Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.
7. Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students following all Sask Polytechnic policies, procedures, and best practices.
8. Select, design, update, and construct educational courses and lab aids/materials.
9. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content in accordance with leading industry standards.
10. Work cooperatively with Program Heads and colleagues in an interdependent team environment.
11. Attend staff, program, and division meetings.
12. Pursue professional development opportunities and industry relationships to keep current with industry and education requirements.
13. Where required, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology and experience.
2. Two years experience is required to teach in the traditional areas of computer engineering, as well as program specialty areas based on current program needs.
3. Member of/or eligible for certification with APEGS as P.Eng. or with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS) as an A.Sc.T.
4. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
5. Effective interpersonal skills.
6. Effective instructional ability.
7. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
