POSITION SUMMARY :
The Production Supervisor, reporting to the Production Manager, will lead a team of hourly plant production employees. The holder of this position will supervise the rendering production facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba with a focus on health and safety activities, product quality and optimize the use of resources. The successful candidate will also promote staff development.
SCHEDULE: Winnipeg supervisors operate under 12 HR rotation, 80 hours every two weeks. Day and night shifts are required as this is a 24/7 operations facility.
POSITION TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and build an environment conducive to productive and positive relationships with employees
- Support and train hourly production employees and serve as a mentor and coach to ensure the successful development of their own staff.
- Assume a leadership role in the health and safety program and help to create the health and safety annual plan for the establishment
- Ensure current and future compliance with all standards, including the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the CFIA, HACCP
- Monitor and generate reports on production related performance
- Lead and complete projects as assigned by the Production Manager
- Encourage process improvements in all operational functions
- Support the implementation of capital and operational improvements
- Organize and lead production team meetings/training as required
- Maintain positive relationships with both hourly and managerial staff members
- Assist with hands on work which will include lifting up to 40 lbs , and pushing or pulling up to 40 lbs
- Train to operate production equipment when needed
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Recent graduates with experience in a related field will be considered for the role.
The preferred candidate will have between 3 and 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing production environment. The ideal candidate will also possess the following attributes:
- Rendering knowledge and experience would be an asset
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in engineering, science or a related technical field an
- asset
- Experience in a supervisory capacity promoting a teamwork approach
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs., repetitive at times
- Able to push or pull up to 40 lbs, repetitive at times
- Experience in coaching and mentoring to assist in successful staff development
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with a positive outlook
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to perform multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment
- High level of computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge
- of Oracle and Kronos a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to cooperate and build relationships with other functional areas and other facilities
- within Darling
- Ability to maintain open and effective communication with employees and all levels of
- management
- Joint health and safety and maintenance experience an asset
- Self-motivated person that is able to complete assignments on time with little to no
- supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality as necessary
