Your Role
As the Grain Originator, the successful candidate will complement the high-volume contracts of the Merchandising department by developing and maintaining relationships with key grain producers and dealers, actively acquiring market information, and sourcing grain to meet both export and domestic customer needs.
Day to Day
- Identify business opportunities with producers and dealers
- Negotiate contracts with producers and dealers on the purchase of grain
- First point of contact for purchasing and delivery of grain
- Meet with producers in person to pursue new business opportunities, foster relationships, and collect grain samples
- Update producers on market information
- Review grain marketing programs
- Provide the P&H merchandising team with grain market information from producers and dealers
Required Qualifications
- Experience in sales with strong proficiency in sales techniques and negotiation strategies
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets and a high aptitude for closing deals
- Exceptional customer service, relationship building and networking skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 Application Suite, with a high proficiency in Excel
- Must be available to travel periodically
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Experience or background in the grain industry
