SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION & STRATEGY LEAD, HUDDLE
Help build a network of support for young Manitobans seeking integrated and accessible mental health, substance use and overall wellness services
This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of an extension
The Huddle initiative is a platform for complex, multi-stakeholder systems transformation and collective impact. The overall goal of the initiative is to fundamentally transform how Manitoba youth and families access and experience youth mental health, substance use and overall wellness supports and services. Manitoba’s Huddle initiative is grounded in the internationally recognized Integrated Youth Services (IYS) model and movement, and works closely with similar initiatives across Canada through a federal network known as the Federation of Integrated Youth Services Networks (FIYSN)
United Way Winnipeg serves as the Administrative Host and Backbone Structure (Team) for the Huddle initiative. This role involves convening multiple partners and stakeholders and working to drive transformational systems change through: inclusive, culturally-sensitive and meaningful engagement of IYS partners including youth, families, service providers, policy makers and funders; systems thinking, continuous improvement and social innovation, including change management and sophisticated co-design processes; research, resource development, communication and knowledge mobilization; and, comprehensive, measurement-based evaluation, reporting and service planning
As a senior member of the Huddle Backbone Team, the Systems Transformation & Strategy Lead provides leadership, expertise and guidance to both the Backbone Team and the members of the Huddle Network in the areas of systems thinking, service integration, change management, social innovation and project management. This role takes on and manages a range of planned and emerging strategic deliverables and projects associated with the Backbone Team’s role, including project management of initiative-wide priorities such as implementation of a measurement-based care system, province-wide Calls for IYS Proposals that will strategically scale the initiative, and IYS service partnerships and pilot projects that further the Huddle initiative’s shared vison of systems change, service integration and enhanced access to mental health and wellness services for youth and their families
Reporting to the Executive Director, Huddle, this role:
- Leads and manages IYS focused systems change and co-design efforts for the initiative using a collective impact approach and a range of knowledge and skills including project management, stakeholder participation and engagement, relationship building, and group facilitation
- Leads and supports the development, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of systems transformation focused processes, tools, and materials including workflows, forms, and agreements
- Leads and supports the exploration, development, utilization and planning for technology and digital solutions and tools to support the work of the Backbone Team and the initiative
- Supports an all-of-government approach to the Huddle IYS initiative through engagement, relationship building and the provision of comprehensive support to the initiative’s leadership and governance structure
- Takes on a project management role when required which includes managing project scope, budget, timeline, deliverables, risk management, and team coordination
- Leads the Backbone Team’s project focused planning and action on known and emerging deliverables such as a province-wide Call for IYS Proposals
- Leads and supports the Backbone Team’s strategic planning processes and responsibilities including developing short, medium and longer-term team goals, deliverables, and work plans for the Backbone team and participating in and contributing to organization-wide strategic planning processes and deliverables
- Works with the Huddle Backbone Team, Network and initiative partners to support tracking and reporting on IYS impact and the progress towards key deliverables as detailed in the Backbone team’s strategic plan and Service Agreement(s)
Qualifications
You are a high-energy team player with a passion for innovation, systems transformation, the collective impact work of United Way Winnipeg and the potential of the integrated youth services (IYS) model and movement to improve overall health and wellness outcomes for youth and families. You are a person who takes initiative, leads by example and can build strong and productive working relationships with a broad range of Huddle initiative partners, stakeholders and staff teams.
The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education, related experience, skills and interests:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Public Administration, Community Development, Project Management, and /or a related field
- Three or more years recent experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder systems transformation, technology and / or digital projects, including applying project management, change management methodologies, and group facilitation
- Demonstrated people skills and expertise in building, nurturing and working successfully within a range of collaborative working relationships
- Demonstrated skill and experience preparing sophisticated documents and reports, as well as system transformation tools and materials
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with technical / digital tools and resources that will support the initiative’s systems transformation and innovation work
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles related to equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenous collaboration, and a commitment to work in a manner that furthers the values at the core of the Huddle initiative
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative on advancing team goals and priorities, and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload based on sometimes shifting and emerging factors and deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effect and collaborative member of a diverse and high functioning multidisciplinary team
