ABOUT THE POSITION:
Reporting to the responsible Design Manager, this role will support work within the DNNP Balance of Plant scope and will be responsible for planning, design and execution of lifting and rigging operations and perform the following duties:
- Prepare Lifting Plan including risk assessment-method statement
- Planning, supervision and execution of the lifting operation, including ensuring that the ground or structure on which equipment stands will take the loads (participating with the geotechnical engineer)
- Work close with crane and other equipment suppliers to determine what rigging configuration is representative and what weights and loads apply.
- Design and prepare fabrication drawing for rigging gear including chains, shackles, spreader bars, lifting beam, sling, etc. (Or supply these items in case no capacity to fabricate them in house)
- Determine different loads and forces on the ground during the lift operation, crane boom length, slew angle and design crane mat or participate with geotechnical engineer to prepare soil working platform or with falsework engineer to design temporary working platform.
- Determine and take action with safety team during dynamic loading due to wind pressure- lateral loading due to incorrect set-up or different settlement of supports - dynamic loads caused by slewing or a swinging lifted load - dynamic loads caused by crane travelling with load - emergency loads. And determine/plan/supervise the proper measurement should be taken during cold/hot climate and high wind or bad weather
- Plan/supervise and control erection and dismantling, relocation, removal, movement of all construction equipment including cranes and tower cranes;
- Plan/supervise and control supply and removal, movement of lifting on Hydraulic kack or screw, lifting platform /Scissor lift, articulated boom, skidding including Hilman roller
- Inspection below the hook equipment and design lifting points and lugs.
- Plan/supervise heavy transportation and securing the cargo and loads;
- Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
- Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality
- All other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
- Post secondary education in an Engineering Civil discipline.
- Professional engineer (P.Eng) preferred
- Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in lifting and rigging operation, preparing lift plans, design below the hook equipment, design working platform, and heavy transportation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills
- Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
- Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated
- Thrive on a fast paced-environment
