Our client, one of Canada’s leading specialist’s contractors within aerospace and defense is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Advisor.
The Occupational Health and Safety Advisor ensures that the company’s activities comply with current health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, as well as with the Canada Labour Code, the Canada Occupational Safety and Health Regulations (COSH) and environmental regulations. In addition, the Occupational Health and Safety Advisor recommends procedural revisions to meet corporate safety objectives and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities :
- Ensure that procedures are followed throughout the company, in accordance with the Canada Labour Code Part II, COSH regulations and environmental regulations
- Support, advise and act as a resource for all Cascade Aerospace employees regarding inquiries on safe work practices
- Research, evaluate and recommend new and/or different safety devices and equipment in order to continuously improve safety measures
- Recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
- Review all first aid cases and investigate accordingly
- Act as safety trainer for specific programs in accordance with company policy and procedures
- Ensure that investigations of occupational health and safety accidents and incidents are carried out appropriately and thoroughly, in accordance with policies and procedures
- Participate in monthly meetings of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Monitor all hazard observations and maintain records
- Ensure compliance with WHMIS and GHS regulations as well as internal policies and procedures
- Ensure adequate facilities and equipment are available to meet first aid requirements
- Liaise with Human Resources regarding employee injuries and CSST claims
- Assist OHS Manager in auditing safety practices to ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications :
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalency
- First Aid – Level 2 certification preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing and/or aviation environment/industry
- Experience/knowledge of disability management practices
- Experience/knowledge of audit management
- Knowledge in Accident/Incident Investigations
- Experience working within a Transport Canada Approved Safety Management or Department of National Defence Flight Safety System considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Health & Safety Regulations (COSH)
- Knowledge in Industrial Hygiene (monitoring/sampling)
- In-depth knowledge of WSBC regulations, practices and procedures
- Excellent communication skills – Verbal and written; English is mandatory
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Intermediate computer skills – MS Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to be analytical, a problem solver and a team player
- Must be Canadian residents or permanent residents
