Seaboard Transport and Armour Transportation Systems is seeking an Events and Engagement specialist to join our growing Human Resources Team. The ideal candidate will have at 2 years of experience in event coordination or planning, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously while being a proactive problem solver. The successful candidate will be outgoing, enthusiastic, and dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for our employees.

Core Job Functions:
- Plan and execute engagement events and activities such as: annual awards banquets, recognition and appreciation events, cultural events, community events, and family events that cater to a diverse workforce including office-based employees, drivers, mechanics, and dock workers.
- Coordinate logistics for events taking place in different terminals, ensuring seamless execution and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain event budgets, including researching vendors, negotiating contracts, and tracking expenses.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including venue selection, catering, transportation, and audiovisual needs.
- Partner with communications to leverage internal communication platforms to ensure company awareness, understanding and participation in company sponsored programs and events. Support development of promotional materials to increase employee participation at events.
- Support our engaged workforce and company culture through innovative and pro-active engagement and retention initiatives.
- Develop creative solutions for engaging employees across different locations and roles, taking into account the unique challenges posed by geographical dispersion.
- Provide administrative support for services, projects and programs that focus on the engagement of the workforce and overall well-being of the employees.
- Identify and monitor opportunities for employee engagement and enhancing company culture.
- Administer recognition and award programs both internally and externally that recognize the success of our employees and our company.
- Encourage wellness through endorsing healthy lifestyles, education and providing opportunities for wellness enhancement to the overall organization.
- Assist in other HR functions as needed, such as onboarding, employee relations, and other HR related projects and programing
Skills
- Experience in event planning and execution
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative professional business relationships with all levels of management, employees, and outside companies.
- Strong organization skills; ability to multi-task; show initiative and work aggressively to meet deadlines.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills; effective and confident presentation skills.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint); technologically savvy.
- Good judgment, strong common sense, and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, yet seamlessly integrate activities with other teams when needed.
- Ability to manage tasks in various stages.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities, work demands, roles and responsibilities.
Job Requirements:
- 2 years of professional experience specializing in employee engagement, event planning, or related on the job work experience
- Bilingualism (English and French) considered an asset
- Previous experience in transportation and logistics considered an asset
- Previous experience with event planning considered an asset
- Some travel will be required
