Job description
Interior Health is seeking experienced and dynamic Casual Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our Emergency Room Team in the position of TeleSAFE Consultant. This position is at the Penticton Regional Hospital, in Penticton BC
Shift Type: Days, Evenings, Nights
Shift times: 00:00 to 23:59 Rotating (IH Telesafe on call)
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary from zero to 37.5 hours per week. Shifts schedule will include Days/Nights and include weekdays and weekends.

The TeleSAFE Consultant practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), as well as within a patient and family centered care model. The TeleSAFE Consultant works collaboratively and in partnership with the interprofessional care team in the provision of person-centered, culturally safe, and recovery-oriented care.
The TeleSAFE Consultant provides consultation, support, guidance, and mentorship to appropriate onsite staff who may or may not have SAFE training. TeleSAFE Consultants support patients and onsite clinicians via phone and/or video to consult and conduct a virtual SAFE examination for patients across the lifespan. The Consultant is available to communicate with the onsite staff prior to, during, and after the examination, as required, for support and guidance with procedure and documentation.
The TeleSAFE Consultant provides care through a trauma and violence informed lens, using evidence informed practice, and ensures patients and their support systems are supported in navigating the health care system and accessing community supports

- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of a recognized Adult/Adolescent Forensic Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program.
- Two years recent related experience in SAFE care and one year formal experience in adult teaching/learning, curriculum development, teaching, providing in service or staff development function or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
