The Vice President of Construction (VP Construction) plays a pivotal role within a construction company operating in Quebec, overseeing both building and civil engineering projects. Responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the construction division, they ensure the

Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve company objectives and targets for the construction division.
Lead and oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of building and civil engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Provide leadership and guidance to project managers, superintendents, and other construction personnel, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution of issues.
Monitor project performance, financial metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), taking proactive measures to address any deviations or challenges.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the construction division, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including health and safety requirements.
Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and finance, to streamline processes and optimize resource allocation.
Represent the company in negotiations, presentations, and industry events, enhancing its reputation and fostering business growth opportunities.
Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of construction projects, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification is an asset.
Extensive experience in construction management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering building and civil engineering projects of varying scales and complexities.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower teams to achieve excellence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
Strategic mindset, with the ability to develop and execute plans to drive business growth and operational success.
Sound financial acumen, with the ability to analyze project budgets, financial statements, and profitability metrics.
In-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and best practices, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and resolve complex issues and conflicts, with a focus on finding practical solutions.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
