EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPER- Decolonial Indigenization

RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC INNOVATION

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for a passionate educator to join our Research and Academic Innovation team as an Educational Developer, with a specialized focus on Decolonial Indigenization. This Educational Developer will provide thoughtful leadership, modelling and guidance around decolonial and Indigenous perspectives into development, teaching and learning.

To thrive in this role, you must be actively working as an ally to our Indigenous relations, building meaningful relationships with our faculty and Indigenous colleagues, and have experience integrating decolonial and Indigenous perspectives into curriculum, pedagogy, and teaching practices.

As a member of Research and Academic Innovation, you are a connector and relationship-builder who loves to create, lead, and support Faculty members. You are dedicated to learner success by supporting instructors to create outstanding and inclusive learning experiences for all learners. This role will also provide instructional modelling and coaching, tools, support, and guidance for Faculty members.

Bring your previous experiences and skills to design and facilitate Faculty experiences that strengthen and deepen decolonial Indigenization practices across curriculum design, teaching and learning practices. Create impact by helping Faculty to enhance their understanding and practices of decolonial Indigenization from where they are at.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

With a dedicated focus on decolonial Indigenization, you will:

• Advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Decolonialization, and Indigenous perspectives throughout the curriculum development, and teaching and learning process
• Lead academic activities throughout the teaching and learning continuum
• Collaborate with the Indigenous House of Learning on opportunities related to curriculum, teaching and learning
• Develop resources to support faculty with curriculum and teaching practices
• Participate in cross-functional working groups
• Research, design, deliver, and evaluate professional development opportunities and resources.
• Stay current in educational development, helping to create and ensure an integrated approach to NorQuest initiatives like Reimagine Higher Education and our Skills of Distinction.
• Provide coaching and training via small group support, classroom observation and feedback, workshops, seminars, and communities of practice.
• Connect ideas, people, knowledge, exemplars, and best practices.
• Help advance inclusive instructional practice via sound assessment, teaching dossiers, critical thinking, classroom environment, fostering student engagement, and instructional techniques/strategies.
• Support the Faculty evaluation and development process and provide professional development opportunities in the areas of the Teaching Quality Standards.
• Cultivate and foster inclusive working relationships with NorQuest Faculty and internal / external professional organizations on matters of Faculty professional development.
• Support programs and new Faculty members with onboarding activities, including designing and facilitating workshops.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum requirement is Bachelor’s degree. A degree or certificate in Education, instructional design, or teaching and learning in higher education is an asset.
• Experience with implementing decolonial Indigenization into curriculum development and teaching and learning practices.
• Experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities, and Indigenous learners.
• A strong understanding of wise practices in Indigenous community engagement.
• 4+ plus years of direct teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
• Experience with curriculum design and development.
• Proficiency with educational technology and high willingness to learn and adopt new tools and technology.
• The skills to discern and fulfill the collegial roles of coach, collaborator, co-creator, and consultant.
• Proven experience with practices that increase learner engagement, sound assessment, and learner-centric instructional design.
• Commitment to advancing decolonial indigenization, anti-racism, equity and inclusion at NorQuest.

SALARY: Reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a two-year term position until April 30, 2026 with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs. 

This is a Faculty role, and the pay range is quite large, check out the Appendix A to better understand how pay is determined.
