Job description

The Architectural Technologist will be required to provide full Architectural design services for transit related facilities. This involves:

• Reviewing existing conditions, drawings and specifications and obtaining additional data necessary for the completion of accurate drawings and specifications.

• Visiting sites to determine and record existing conditions/deficiencies.

• Researching additional information by liaising with various manufacturing companies, contractors and government agencies to ensure final designs are practical and meet all applicable code requirements.

• Reviewing shop drawings and material submissions for conformity to TTC drawings and specifications and for accuracy and completeness.

• Ensuring that all detailed factors and standard requirements are correctly
incorporated.

• Laying out and preparing preliminary and final design drawings from design standards.

• Architects/engineers' notes, rough sketches and verbal instructions using CADD
and/or manual drafting methods.

• Assisting architects with the preparation of technical specifications.

• Liaising with staff from other TTC groups and departments to ensure that projects meet all TTC requirements.

• Assisting during studies as directed and preparing a variety of reports related to the work.

• Must have or be able to acquire Subway/SRT Rule Book training for conducting site inspections at track level.

The Architectural Technologists will require the following qualifications and experience:

• Experience with CADD (MicroStation) and general administrative computer software.

• College Diploma (3 year) in Architectural Technology or equivalent, combined with at least 5 years directly related work experience.

• Membership in good standing with the Association of Architectural Technologies of Ontario (AATO) is required. Architectural Technologists licenses with the Ontario Association of Architects until 2023 is acceptable.

• Experience in design of transit facilities considered an asset.
