Job description

This is a contract position for a Systems Testing/QA Specialist for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Five Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, the selection of testing tools, and the identification of resources required for testing
Plans and organizes testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests)
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components. The tester will work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems

Qualifications
MANUAL TESTER
At least 3+ years of experience as a Functional tester for large scale enterprise systems undergoing transformation or being built from scratch.
Knowledge and experience in REST API testing and in use of REST API to create test data and verify expected results. Experience using Rest API clients such as Postman, , SOAP UI
Experience with designing, developing, and maintaining test cases based on industry best practices and standards
Experience with manual test execution and defect reporting, testing of various types of integration technologies
Understanding of relational Database technology and working experience with SQL in the context either test data preparation or expected result verification with one of the database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle
