About the Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chef to join our R&D lab in a food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will work alongside our food scientists to ensure the quality, consistency, and creative input of our products. You must be able to pivot quickly, facilitate product demonstrations, and have great communication skills. Experience in off-site catering is an asset, and a positive mindset with a problem-solving attitude is essential. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong willingness to learn and collaborate with all facets of the other departments.
As the Corporate Chef for our Product Development team in Richmond, BC, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative plant-based food products, preparing samples, and developing processes in the kitchen. We are looking for a high energy, creative, and confident chef to take our award winning products to the next level. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to travel and showcase the exceptional quality of our products at tradeshows and demonstrate their versatility in foodservice. Responsibilities:
- Work directly with functional leaders (Product, Sales, Marketing) to support ideation and develop innovative new products.
- Collaborate with food scientists to develop and refine product recipes.
- Support the R&D team with the technical aspects of discovery and innovation (investigation, planning, pipeline development, execution, evaluating and reporting on new product development, product and process improvements, troubleshooting projects and cost savings).
- Partner with the Quality team to maintain benchmarking practices for the testing of our new products and competitive products, with action plans to address any quality gaps.
- Travel as required to conduct research, attend industry events, and support off-site catering operations.
- Provide creative input and innovative ideas for new products.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay current on industry best practices and food industry trends.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and project management skills.
- Comfortable working in a start-up environment.
- Generate different builds/presentations of products with a focus on aesthetics and the eating experience.
- Be comfortable in creating presentation videos and utilizing social media platforms to promote our amazing products.
- And any other duties requested by supervisor.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Corporate Chef or similar role in a food manufacturing setting.
- Degree or certification in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for innovation in food.
- Experience in Asian cuisine is an asset.
- Highly efficient and organized.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Creative and artistic with strong analytical skills and a passion for developing innovative products.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience in off-site catering is an asset.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
Working Conditions:
