WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
K.P.C. Power Electrical Ltd. Is looking for experienced “ SUBSTATION TECHNICIANS / TECHNOLOGISTS” for our growing business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- High-voltage substation maintenance, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Inspect and commission post-construction to observe functional operation and ensure compliance to design and equipment specifications and operational and safety standards.
- Plan, research, and implement methodologies and procedures to apply principles
of electrical engineering design and operational theory around maintenance, construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting projects. - Prepare, review, study, and edit technical drawings and specifications of power systems to ensure application, installation, and operations conform to required standards and customer requirements.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
- Assess process, design, implementation, and workflow variables to inform Project Managers and clients with respect to scheduling & cost controls.
- Prepare project reports by collecting, summarizing, analyzing, and interpreting information; drawing correct conclusions and making appropriate recommendations.
- Provide engineering information by answering technical questions and requests.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Min 3-5+ years of contractor/utility field experience.
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of applicable IEEE & NETA testing standards related to substation apparatus.
- Solve problems using a collaborative, holistic, systematic approach.
- Attributable assets in having familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD, among others.
- Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with and without supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and other contractors.
- Safety conscious and willing to learn and adapt to changing technologies in the industry.
- A clean driving record, minimum G class license required. D class license would be
an asset. - Good mechanical, hands-on aptitude.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technician/Technology, Electrical Engineering program or equivalent
- OACETT certification is supported
