SUMMARY: This individual will be r esponsible for coordinating Logistics, managing Trade compliance issues, developing processes and procedures for expedient cost-effective shipments to and from StackTeck’s customers and suppliers. They will also co-ordinate the crating team's activities to ensure their daily tasks are prioritized with logistics plans. This role will not have any direct reports to start, however the long term goal is to have this individual manage part of the shipping (crating) team upon successful integration into the organization.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ethical management of inbound/outbound product shipments to customers, sub contractors and partners to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies optimizing costs, priority and risk.
- Adherence, creation, and implementation of policies & procedures for all company related logistics activities.
- Implementation & administration of government regulated programs required to move shipments to all global destinations, E.g., current wood stamping.
- Resolution of all problems & disputes concerning transportation, logistics systems, billing, and import/export issues.
- Ongoing review & classification of tariff codes for incoming and outgoing product & part shipments, including all CUSMA/USMCA compliance related matters.
- Ensure company compliance with CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management digital initiative) and facilitate duty recovery / drawbacks where applicable
- Manage all compliance related to CARNET bonds
- Participate in the implementation of Microsoft D365 as a subject matter expert
- Selection, approval and ongoing review of preferred Customs brokers and logistics providers for land, air and ocean shipments with emphasis on rate negotiation, service expectations and on time performance.
- Ongoing training of team support members to ensure they can effectively cover vacation periods.
- Provide consultative support to suppliers, partners, and customers to assist with the export & re-import of products to minimize delays with ongoing projects.
- Monitor and determine the impact of changes in export trade laws & regulations and the ability to develop and adapt procedures as required by these changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary education including University/College degree or diploma in a related business field.
- 5+ years’ experience in transportation, customs brokerage, customs compliance, logistics or a related field of expertise.
- Strong industry knowledge in all aspects of transportation, logistics, multi-modal freight, international trade, customs compliance, and FTA/NAFTA
- Thorough knowledge of import and export documentation (B13, E-manifest, A/N, A8A, A10, etc.)
- Familiarity with cross border procedures (PAPS, PARS)
- Understanding of customs processes and familiarity with CBSA regulations on imports and exports.
- Successful completion of CITT CCLP or CCS certificate programs would be an asset.
- Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as industry specific software including various service providers, government programs and courier systems.
