Job description
Lead and managed overall Canadian business operations, including Commercial Packaged Gases, Bulk business, Hard Goods, and Safety Products, along with overseeing filling plants. Collaborate with Canadian enabling functions to enhance safety, service, financial, and personnel performance aligned with business strategy. Drive business profitability through:
- Setting and executing business goals
- Identifying growth opportunities within the client region
- Achieving continuous improvement via targets and operational direction, including digitalization and productivity initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities:
- P&L accountability for Commercial Packaged Gases, Bulk business, Hard Goods, and Safety Products in Canada.
- Drive business performance to meet or surpass expectations, optimizing returns for client
- Develop and execute sales and market strategies.
- Coordinate with the Tonnage group for on-site opportunities.
- Oversee packaged gas operations for timely, quality production and cost optimization.
- Manage and mitigate risks associated with the business.
- Handle unplanned events at local operations to minimize disruptions and ensure community well-being.
Responsible for Future Development and Growth
- Collaborate with marketing team to devise market segment strategy, prioritize new products, customer communication, PSO enhancements, and pricing decisions.
- Identify and leverage economic and market trends impacting targeted customers.
- Implement strategic plans for markets and customer accounts, fostering business development activities.
- Recommend potential acquisitions, capital expenditures, and long-term business direction.
People Management & Safety Advocacy
- Ensure effective training, development, and management of human resources to drive business advancement.
- Champion safety initiatives to ensure a secure environment for employees, customers, and the public.
- Uphold ethical operations and environmental consciousness.
Organizational Effectiveness:
- Design and implement a business organization structure aligned with strategy.
- Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate transparent communication of business strategies, objectives, and tactics at all organizational levels.
- Serve as a member of the client, Canada Board of Directors.
- Manage legal cases involving client Canada customers or vendors with legal department support.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:—
- University degree required; Master's degree considered advantageous.
- Proven track record of at least 15 years in managerial roles, showcasing expertise in sales, strategic planning, marketing, operations, and effective people leadership within an industrial setting.
- Preference for experience in commercial development.
- Comprehensive understanding of the industry and proficiency in all facets of business operations, including enabling functions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead effectively within a team environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- French language is a plus
