Senior Estimator -Road, Bridge, Sewer, Watermain, and Building Construction
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of road, bridge, sewer, watermain, and building construction projects. Experience with Bid2win software will be considered a valuable asset. You will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing bids, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine project requirements and scope.
Ensure completion of full quantity take-offs of labor, equipment, and materials from project documents.
Utilize Bid2win software for accurate cost estimates in road, bridge, sewer, watermain, and building construction projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers for information gathering and precise cost estimates.
Evaluate and compare vendor/subcontractor bids, negotiate pricing, and provide recommendations for selection.
Create comprehensive and competitive bids, proposals, and tender submissions using Bid2win software.
Review and analyze construction progress, changes, and cost implications throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct on-site visits and inspections to assess project progress and validate estimates.
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to enhance estimation accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures.
Assist in contract negotiations and provide expert advice on cost-related matters.
Lead small to medium estimates or components of large estimates and review associated bid documents.
Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate overall project requirements.
Support the estimate lead by populating tender forms, generating requests for information, and assisting in establishing a pursuit schedule.
Recognize risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule, and market conditions/constraints, using contract terms to identify risks and opportunities.
Assist with bid document control by documenting, organizing, and archiving all information relating to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team.
Perform bid-day assignments and support other estimators to successfully close various scopes.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including lead estimator, lead bid runner, subtrade partners, and suppliers.
Solicit competitive pricing from subtrade partners and suppliers for pursuit support.
Establish a critical path schedule for the estimate/pursuit.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
Proven experience as an Estimator in road, bridge, sewer, watermain, and building construction projects.
Strong knowledge of Ontario construction building code, construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
Experience with Bid2win software or similar estimation software is highly desired.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills to accurately calculate project costs.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
