About the Opportunity - Responsible to the Vice President, Financial Performance for the accuracy and integrity of individual and consolidated financial statements for the group of companies
- Responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting of the regulated entity, the energy services group and corporate services; including responsibility for the accuracy of financial reporting, contract management, cash flow management and month end close process
- Evaluate, recommend, customize, and implement finance “Best Practices” that support the business direction of growth, and promotes desired outcomes with a focus on internal controls and the accounting function
- Conduct detailed reviews of all balance sheet accounts and P&L variance analysis including the creation of meaningful commentary on financial results versus the approved budget
- Prepare monthly consolidation entries and cash flow statements
- Lead the year end audit process, coordinate year end timelines and conduct the necessary work required to meet the annual audit engagement requirements, including preparation of working papers and schedules to support the financial statement notes
- Collaborate with the businesses and take a lead role in the Annual Budget process
- Provide support as needed to Payroll, Treasury and Corporate tax processes including review of all bank reconciliations
- Manage direct and indirect full-time employees
- Utilizing strong business acumen and proven customer service capabilities to liaise with customers and suppliers as needed
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with industry peers, regulators, shareholders and Finance staff
- Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Ontario Energy Board rules and requirements
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
About You - CPA designation
- Minimum 5 years of practical progressive experience at this level
- Proven experience managing employees including providing proactive coaching and mentoring to develop employees
- Broad business experience outside of accounting
- Industry knowledge and experience within a regulated environment
Salary Range $135,000 - $145,000/year
