Who We Are
The Centre for Accessible Learning identifies and facilitates disability-related accommodations and supports that create a fair and equitable academic experience for students with disabilities at SFU. We work with students, instructors and other units on campus to explore ways to remove disability-related barriers in all aspects of university life. CAL's work is guided by SFU's General Policy 26, "Accessibility for Students with Disabilities".
About the Role
The Program Assistant plays a critical front-facing role in a busy office environment. As the first point of contact for students, faculty and other SFU community members seeking support and information on accessibility, it ensures our physical and virtual spaces are inclusive, accessible and safe for individuals with disabilities. In addition to welcoming, orienting and supporting clients in navigating our registration process, this role triages appointments, manages appointment bookings and ensures back-end financial and administrative processes are running effectively.
The ideal candidate for this position takes a people - centred approach to service, has demonstrated excellence in communicating effectively and respectfully with diverse populations, including neurodiverse individuals, and has demonstrated experience balancing multiple tasks with outstanding attention to detail.
