MULTIPLE VACANCIES

LOCATION: McNicoll (North York, ON) and Hartsdale (Etobicoke, ON) sites

POSITION TYPE: Full-time Regular (37.5 hours/week)

  Lumenus Autism offers ABA-based behavioural services that are designed to address the unique needs of our children aged 2-11 years. We are a one stop-shop for families looking to access caring, coordinated & convenient autism services at our beautiful Hartsdale and McNicoll locations in Toronto. Lumenus Autism is a lively, fast-paced and full of action. We pride ourselves in bringing the best out of everyone as we create new programs & services catered to our clients. The position will be based (in-person) at both 65 Hartsdale Drive and 155 McNicoll Avenue in Toronto.

Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst, the Behaviour Therapist develops program plans, delivers parent education sessions and works directly with children and youth with autism and their families in the direct implementation of treatment rooted in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Preparation

Treatment of Individualized/Group Program Implementation

Collaboration, Consultation, and Communication

Parent Training and Education

Special Projects as Assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Required: Degree ABA/ Behaviour Science and Technology (BST)/ Early Childhood Education with knowledge of Autism

• Preferred: Master’s degree in ABA, Psychology, Education, Early Childhood Education or Child and Youth Worker

• Relevant experience should include:

• 2+ years’ experience working with children /youth diagnosed with Autism; Autism Spectrum Disorder; (ASD).

• Demonstrated experience applying the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis in various settings (group, individualized)

• Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills (both written and verbal)

• Clinical judgment

• Problem solving skills

• Program planning and implementation

• Accurate data collection and graphing

• Organization and time management

• Behaviour management of children and/or youth

• Knowledge of typical and atypical child and adolescent development

• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and in the home or community as applicable

• Ability to work independently

• Knowledge of developmental milestones in early childhood

• Understanding of child welfare issues and policies

• Sensitivity to multi-cultural issues

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

• Knowledge of Boardmaker and other technology solutions for children and youth is an asset and highly preferred

• Must be able to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs

• Physical demands of the position include, but are not limited to;

• Frequent bending, walking, escorting, engagement in play/sport type activities;

• Regularly sitting on low seats and bending/twisting/reaching,

• Repetitive movements, possibly in awkward positions,

• Based on individual circumstances, may be required to physically move a child,

• Able to move/run quickly and/or respond safely from a standing, sitting, kneeling, etc. position.

• High degree of attention, focus and vigilance

• Be directed and engaged despite possible intrusive factors (e.g ongoing distractions/noise, upset of children, observation)

• High degree of sensitivity, thoughtfulness and care to child(ren)’s vulnerabilities and needs

• Proactive anticipation, prevention and management of harm and/or crisis situations

• Ability to make quick and sound judgements regarding risk and/or safety

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Access to reliable transportation to travel to various work sites within the GTA

• Able to work in-person, across sites, and flexible for evenings/weekends (e.g. Tuesday to Saturday schedule)
