(Contractual Position to March 31, 2027)

BACKGROUND
The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is the central academic support unit at Memorial University for approximately 4,300 graduate students enrolled in over 170 graduate diploma, master's, and doctoral degree programs across three campuses. Through our network of academic and service units partners we are also responsible for graduate enrolment management, graduate student services and skills training, internationalization, faculty supervisor training and supports, administration of graduate student funding and awards, timely completion of graduate programs, and preparation for life and success after graduate school.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Director of Graduate Enrolment Services, the Wellness and Accessibility Advisor will play a key role in providing support to graduate students at every phase of their academic career. This position will be responsible for providing single-session focused therapy and case management by using an interprofessional model approach. The Wellness and Accessibility Advisor will provide virtual mental health and in-person support; delivering consulting services to other University departments and groups; navigating referrals within the University and community-based resources for addictions and mental health needs; utilizing a healthy campus model and work with University stakeholders and community agencies to identify and respond to the needs of students; maintaining a high level of professional knowledge and skill pertaining to single session, case management, mental health, and wellness navigation; supporting the coordination, development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive programs and services to support graduate students with disabilities; providing advice to the Accessibility Steering Committee on the Memorial Accessibility Plan as well as contributing to various accessibility initiatives offered by the SGS. supporting graduate students, registered with the Blundon Centre, and other stakeholder groups with a successful transition to the University; including assisting with student aid grants and implementing appropriate academic and non-academic accommodations; liaising with course instructors, academic administrators, and other staff on the effective implementation of academic accommodations as required; potentially assisting students, faculty, and staff in using adaptive and assistive technology and specialized software; developing and facilitating educational programming; researching best practices in the field of accessibility-related service provision; and performing other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (minimum 5 years) in advising or navigation roles with a focus on mental health; completion of a master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or Nursing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training, preferably with demonstrated experience in coaching or counseling students with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the mental health needs of individuals, families, and communities; experience working with diverse populations; experience and training in using single-session counselling, crisis and suicide intervention, and mental health first aid training. Overall demonstrated experience working in an environment with an accessibility and inclusion lens is required, as well as experience managing complex student issues, including challenges related to equity, accessibility, mental health, and intercultural diversity.

SALARY $61,862 - $84,355 per annum (Management and Professional)
