What the Role is

Reporting to the Corporate Nursing Executive, and working in a team of four directors, the Director, Nursing Practice Excellence provides evidence-informed leadership and direction to inform and implement strategic nursing priorities across the organization, achieve nursing practice excellence, strengthen systematic organization-wide competency-based nursing education and skill-building, understand and address organization-wide nursing issues, and support the advancement of innovation in nursing practice at LHSC.

The Director, Nursing Practice Excellence, creates internal and external partnerships to strengthen nursing and promote effective interprofessional practice. They will identify and advance strategies to support the recruitment and retention of nurses. In supporting nursing excellence and innovation, the Director is expected to collaborate and partner with various teams and committees focused on patient safety and quality of care, occupational health and safety, health ethics, workplace health, information technology, and health equity and inclusion, as well as with regional partners. They advocate for and build capacity to support individual and organizational compliance with nursing-related legislative and regulatory requirements, and work to identify and address related concerns. The Director consistently contributes to a safe and inclusive working environment, and engages in effective change and transition management practices.

This particular role is accountable to a portfolio responsible for overseeing and supporting Nursing Practice Excellence within the below programs:

The Director provides leadership to and operational oversight to approximately 20 employees including Clinical Educators and Professional Practice Consultants. The office for Nursing Practice Excellence is located at Victoria Hospital.

LHSC is committed to the principles of hybrid work and may offer this option to employees whose work can be performed in an alternate location, without adverse impact to the operations of the Hospital, inclusive of our Staff and Patient experience. Confirmation of hybrid work options available to you will be clarified upon hire and may be subject to change based on the duties required of your position. Successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario and must be available to work on location, as required.

NOTE: this role is required to be on-call, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis within the Director On-Call model across LHSC.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis. In addition, candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
