Responsibilities
• Manage payroll team; provide training and guidance on a daily basis.
• Systematize the workflow to ensure all deadlines are met
• Lead contact for payroll-related questions from internal and external auditors
• Develop ‘Best Practices’ within the department, especially on the customer service, timeliness and accuracy aspects
• Manage the vendor relationship with payroll provider (UKG)
• Ensure on-time, and accurate remittances/payments of all payroll taxes and worker’s compensation remittances, including those administered internally and through UKG Payment
• Administration of payroll reporting, administration of employee benefit plans
• Ensure reconciliation of biweekly, quarterly, monthly and annual statutory compliance reporting requirements
• Final examination of preview reports (i.e.: pay ending dates, pay dates, zero net, pay-offs which would affect the GL entries) prior to payroll run
• Ownership of Time & Attendance administration for all company codes
• Administration of payroll GL process; liaise with Finance teams
• Establishment of each payroll associate’s KPIs for the year
• Regular monitoring of payroll associates’ quarterly reports as indicated on their KPIs
• Rating payroll associates’ performance for the year
• Conduct monthly team meetings (with minutes saved on the payroll drive) to discuss addressed payroll issues, changes and reminders
• Training and development for new staff
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in a leadership capacity.
In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Ideal to have previous experience as part of a payroll implementation.
Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and motivate a team.
Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is highly preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in payroll software with a preference for ADP WFN, UKG and Microsoft Office Suite.
