Base Metals Headquarters

Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you'll find Vale's Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale's competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer, Asset Management to join our Chief Technical Office in Toronto. This is a permanent position.

The Asset Management Engineer, plays a crucial role in ensuring integrity and performance of production assets over their Lifecycle. As part of the 2 nd Line of Defense, this role will focus on the governance, compliance and operational readiness associated with production assets and capital projects. This specialist engineer collaborates with various stakeholders to establish and maintain corporate level requirements for all aspects of Asset Management, following industry benchmarks like ISO 550001. They will work with regions and sites to implement the agreed Asset Management Framework and lead assurance assessments on a routine basis as part of ongoing continuous improvement. Additionally, they will actively identify and mitigate risks to asset integrity throughout equipment lifecycle.

As a Principal, Asset Engineer you will:

• Develop and administer a governance process to assure company technical standards for asset management are implemented.
• Conduct assessments to verify adherence to asset management requirements for projects and operating assets.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance during design and construction phases of projects to ensure assets are designed, constructed, and commissioned in accordance with company standards for asset integrity and industry best practice
• Develop and support implementation of performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate compliance to corporate Asset Management.
• Administer a process for project operational readiness reviews, to assure that reliability-based maintenance strategies & required spares are in place as part of project handed over. This is done in collaboration with operational readiness teams to ensure smooth transition from project completion to the operational phase.
• Provide technical support to Base Metals Operations in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving asset integrity issues that negatively impact achieving business objectives.

About You

Education :

• P.Eng Required
• MMP preferred
• CAMA preferred
• CMRP preferred

Experience:

• 8-10 years' experience in a similar discipline

Skills:

• Experience in design reviews and operations readiness assessments for capital projects from an asset management perspective
• Knowledge and application of Global Forum on Maintenance & Asset Management's 39 elements
• Knowledge & experience implementing of ISO 55001 Asset Management Standard
• Strong knowledge of Asset Management principles, industry codes, and standards.

Extensive experience in a similar role, with a focus on asset integrity assurance within project & ongoing operating environments. Preferably within the mining & metals industry.
