Job description
This is a contract position for an Automation Developer for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
• Identifies opportunities for automation within software processes
• Designs and executes QA tests using scripts that automatically test functionality
• Designs and writes test automation scripts
• Utilizes test automation frameworks
• Investigates problems in software as a result of testing
• Works with QA analysts and software developers to find solutions
• Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, the selection of testing tools, and the identification of resources required for testing Plans and organizes testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration test specialized tests and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests)
• The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components. The tester will work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems
General Skills:
- Set goals with the team, prioritize tasks, and own deliverables;
- Provide recommendations for improvement of applications to stakeholders;
- Conduct PoCs on latest test automation tools and technologies;
- Establish automation test coverage strategy that aligns with the product design and covers the entire software development life cycle;
- Design, build, and execute Web and API test scripts by translating manual regression test cases into automated test scripts;
- Leverage existing Automation Frameworks to build new test scripts while maintaining existing test scripts as per business requirements;
- Set up Automation Test Environment for multiple application platforms such as Web, iOS, Android;
- Define architecture, design, and implementation of Test Automation Framework;
- Lead/execute testing for large-scale, web applications, tools, and/or software;
- Create, advocate and coach test automation best practices to team members & development teams; and
- Quickly ramp up and gain relevant domain and technology knowledge.
Desirable Skills:
- 5+ years demonstrated expertise working with Selenium, SoapUI;
- Have 5+ years of demonstrated QA Automation development;
- BA/ BS preferably in Computer Science OR, Information Technology;
- Experience with UI test frameworks such as Selenium Webdriver;
- 5+ years of proven experience in defining, developing and owning test automation infrastructure for a large enterprise;
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in programming languages like Java, .net, Python, JavaScript;
- 5+ years demonstrated working knowledge of CI/CD using Jenkins or other automation tools;
- Capable level of programming with at least 1 software language such as NodeJS, Ruby, Java, C#, or Python;
- 5+ years demonstrated experience working in an Agile environment; and
- Experience with API test frameworks.

- Demonstrated expertise working with Selenium, SoapUI
- Demonstrated QA Automation development
- Demonstrated experience in programming languages like Java, .net, Python, JavaScript
