Job description
As a Laboratory Assistant , you’ll play a vital role in processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate entry of requisitions and results in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will also include providing exceptional customer service to create the best possible patient experience. Your empathy, care, and kindness will significantly impact patients’ lives, as testing results are often critical for their health and well-being.
Schedule: Day Shift (Monday to Thursday OR Friday to Saturday)
Location: Niagara Falls, ON
Salary: $18/hour
Start: February 27th 2024 (with training)
Job Responsibilities:
- Create an exceptional customer experience that engages individuals around our products and services.
- Accurately enter data, patient, and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions.
- Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, using skillful venipuncture techniques in line with Dynacare’s mission and values.
- Perform ECG’s, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections, and sort and steer specimens as required.
- Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as per SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory, adhering to established protocols for the handling of suitable and unsuitable samples.
- Maintain all confidential information securely and contribute to meeting departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
- Customer-focused with genuine care for patients’ health.
- Demonstrate skill in phlebotomy, managing anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming, and reassuring manner.
- Ability to prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, enabling clear and understandable communication with patients.
- Monday to Saturday schedule between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
